In The Lilies of the Field by William E. Barrett, an African-American Baptist named Homer Smith is challenged to build a chapel to help Catholic nuns. He is constantly battling within himself whether to build it. I thought it was a very good book because I was wondering what would happen next and always thinking about it. I would recommend this novel to anyone who likes plot twists or realistic fiction, and anyone who likes to have to think to understand a book. Overall, this was a very good novel.
